Ideal Notebook and Yuki Pouch
by Cherryl Moote

This project pack features two handy folded projects that are similar in
construction but very different in use. The first project is the Ideal
Notebook. It has pockets inside, a sewn-in notebook and closes with a
flap so that it tucks in perfectly anywhere you might be going. In
addition to being a handy travelling notebook it can be made in many
sizes for many purposes and the instructions give you the perfect sizes
for carrying Zentangle® tiles along with you and also sizing for making
a needle case. In addition to the Ideal Notebook you will also have
instructions for a useful envelope pouch that holds all sorts of bits
and pieces. Use the pouches to hold collage supplies or make them to put
in the back of your journals and sketchbooks for all those little
treasures you keep finding. As usual the instructions are detailed and
diagrammed thoroughly and you will be able to link to three video clips
to give you further assistance.

Peony and Leaf
by Cherryl Moote

I watch eagerly each June, waiting for the heirloom Peonies to bloom and praying that they won't get beaten down by a crushing thunderstorm. This design was drawn in my sketchbook with their lovely perfume wafting through the open window.

Big Leaf, Orchid and Proteus
by Cherryl Moote

This design was inspired by a trip to my local garden centre. I called upon the Jacobean tradition of combining leaves and blossoms from different plants to create a hybrid design.

Jacobean Peony
by Cherryl Moote

Here the Jacobean sensibility is melded with modern scientific illustrations that often show a view of a bloom dissected.

Jacobean Trees
by Cherryl Moote

Trees blowing in the wind before a summer storm inspired the tree on the right which contrasts with a more stoic evergreen tree that stands strong against the push of the wind. The patterning in the trees takes inspiration from traditional diaper patterns used in medieval heraldry.

Hawk Pattern
by Cherryl Moote

This hawk design was inspired by a photograph taken in our backyard when a hawk landed on our fence. He waited quite patiently for my husband to get our all his camera equipment and take his portrait before he lifted off to continue the hunt!

The Jacobean Garden
by Cherryl Moote

This design was created for the cover of The Tangled Jacobean Garden. A blend of traditional and modern takes on Jacobean motifs which allow for dense stitching, bead-work and embellishment. The original needlework was approximately 24" x 24" and several of the motifs were cut from wool felt and appliquéd onto the background before being stitched and embellished.
